Welcome to Sunnyside Presbyterian Church!
Hear the Good News! Poverty and injustice shall end. Hate shall cease. The things that bind and confine us shall be loosened. Our mistakes and harm done to others and ourselves shall be forgiven. Being Christian is meaningful, relevant and energizing today —whether you are seven or seventy. God is calling all of us into the Good News!
Sunnyside Presbyterian is a small, family-oriented congregation in the Vander community, east of Fayetteville. Come visit and see what we are all about. If you are looking for a worship experience that is down to earth, intimate, and you long to be part of a loving community where you can know everyone’s name then please come visit. All are welcome here.
We are a growing and welcoming congregation. Children will love our Sunday School program and the “time for young disciples” in worship. Excellent childcare by background-checked adults is provided in our nursery. Youth meet about every other week Sunday afternoons to work on dramatic worship enactments and special music. Adults appreciate the attention given to scripture and the uplifting hymns. We have an engaging Adult Sunday School and a lively Bible Study that meets Tuesday at 2pm in a home setting. We also gather on the last Wednesday each month for a Fellowship Dinner. Come feel a sense of being part of one church family.
Sunnyside is also a place where you can help live into the gospel by making a difference in the community.
Prayer & a Biscuit is a community breakfast Mondays at 7:30am where men and women from around the community from various congregations gather to break bread (sausage biscuits), read and discuss a daily scripture, and pray for each other and the community before heading out into the rest of our day and week. Some bring their bible so we can hear the daily scripture in a number of different translations. Some also bring a dollar to help buy biscuits for the next week, but all you need to bring is yourself.
Our Food Pantry and Clothes Closet operate from 4:30-6pm the first and third Wednesday each month. Any in need are welcome, as are voluneers and donations of clothing or money. Thanks to our partnership with Second Harvest we can buy more food at cheaper prices than any grocery store can provide. Donations from Sunnyside Presbyterian and the Presbytery of Coastal Carolina help sponsor the pantry every month, but we still could not do this without donations from generous individuals like you. All donations will receive a letter at the end of the year if you itemize your donations to non-profits. Thanks for sharing your presence so this community can be a better place.
